Black Wolf Bistro - Cook

As a cook you will play a vital role in preparing meals and serving food for travelers in our grab and go restaurant within the airport. Your primary responsibilities will be preparing a variety of food items, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, and providing excellent customer service to meet the needs of time-sensitive passengers. As a cook you will be expected to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with kitchen staff, and follow health and safety regulations.

What does this role involve?

•Prepare a wide range of food items, including baked goods, sandwiches, salads, wraps, snacks and hot food items

•Be part of the BWB Team presenting a clean, organized and efficient bistro with a reputation for delicious food!

•Ensure all safety and health regulations and best practices are met or exceeded

•Ensure food items are cooked, are in correct packaging, stored, and handled at appropriate temperatures

•Monitor and maintain inventory levels of ingredients, ensuring adequate supplies for daily operation

•Participate in inventory counts and communicate inventory needs to management.

•Rotate stock and ensure freshness of ingredients to minimize waste

•Adhere to proper sanitation practices, including personal hygiene, handwashing, and maintaining a clean work area

•Promote an effective communication to maintain efficient workflow between the kitchen and the counter staff

•Make adjustments to accommodate clients with specific allergies and/or diet restrictions

•Prepare items according to BWB recipes, portion sizes and quality standards established

•Follow recipes accurately to maintain consistency in taste, presentation and portion size

•Ensure high standard of food safety and cleanliness in the kitchen, including monitoring food storage, expiry dates and promptly addressing any concerns regarding food quality to management

•Regularly clean and sanitize equipment, utensils and work stations to maintain a hygienic environment

•Report any maintenance issue with equipment to the appropriate personnel

What are the requirements for this role?

•Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent

•Must be able to obtain and retain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)

•Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean abstract

•Minimum 3 years of experience in a commercial kitchen or a restaurant

•Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

•Food Safe Level 1 certification an asset

•Must successfully pass both Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP) and Radio Operator's Certificate (ROC-A) written exams within within 60 days of employment. Completion of AVOP certification required within 90 days of employment.

•Must be physically fit (able to bend, kneel, crawl, stoop, climb, and lift up to 70lb repetitively)

•Must be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or show proof of right to work in Canada
