The Senior International Account Manager is responsible for optimizing occupancy and maximizing sales revenues by prospecting and generating new international congress business.

This dynamic opportunity calls for a savvy business professional with an entrepreneurial mindset, who can creatively leverage resources to draw connections and close sales. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the MTCC Sales, Marketing, and the greater sales efforts at Toronto’s Convention and Visitors Bureau. Prospecting in tandem with the Leaders Circle is a crucial element to understanding the international market potential.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire and maintain a pipeline of global accounts and contacts, with the goal to secure future international congresses for MTCC.
  • Identify opportunities for citywide convention business by utilizing market intelligence, research, and resources.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the international business events lifecycle, critical stages of accounts, from prospect to bidding through contract and execution.
  • Create an implement an individual sales strategy for each prospective account.
  • Lead business development activities at international industry events, tradeshows, and represent MTCC at in-market sales events and activations.
  • Conduct consistent outreach activity to secure potential international association business.
  • Create detailed proposal documents as part of a formal bidding process as outlined by customers and prospects.
  • Experience developing accurate sales projection, reports and presentations.
  • Research industry trends with acumen to acquire general market intelligence.
  • Successfully negotiate proposals to contract stage, as well as license agreements.
  • Business travel as required for bid presentations, business development and industry events.
  • Ensure congruent sales and marketing strategies aligned with the Leaders Circle business unit.

    Qualifications

    • University Degree or College Diploma in Hospitality or another similar field.
    • Minimum 5 years of sales experience in a meeting facility space and/or hotel.
    • Knowledge of the tourism, convention/event industry and in particular, the international meeting market is an asset.
    • Demonstrated experience with complex contract negotiations.
    • Demonstration of having strong business acumen; market perspective, strategic planning, excellent communication, and articulation.
    • Ability to work within tight timelines.
    • Honed experience in creating effective and positive relationships with colleagues in a team environment.
    • Ability to network, build, create relationships with external stakeholders including Executives, Management, and leaders.
    • Advanced skills with MS Office: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
