JOB SUMMARY
Verifies identification of horses before every race at the tunnel before they leave the stable area and enter the racetrack.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Checks identifying of each horse before it leaves the stable area for each race.
Releases identified horses to proceed over to the paddock area for saddling.
Notifies the Paddock Judge of any horses that are late to the tunnel or do not show up at all so that trainers and, if necessary, the AGCO Stewards can be contacted.
Distribute and collect pinnies for all horses going over to the paddock area.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Knowledge
General knowledge of Rules of Racing is required
Basic knowledge of Company policy is needed to ensure compliance.
General knowledge of horsemanship is essential.
Skills
General observation skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills required.
Detailed clerical skills an asset.
Education and Experience
High school education; up to two years horse-related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to changing weather conditions as 'outdoor' work is sometimes required.
