Position Summary:

Bike Patrol is responsible for maintaining safe mountain biking and use of the trails. They make customer service their top priority and are ready to provide first aid to all resort guests if and when required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct opening and closing sweeps for safety, marking hazards, repairing safety equipment and documenting findings.
  • Ride all trail levels confidently and transport patients safely using appropriate extraction techniques.
  • Work in adverse weather conditions, including heat, rain, and rough terrain, for full-shifts.
  • Continuously patrol and document trail conditions, making necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Maintain and place signs, fences, and safety devices to ensure rider safety.
  • Inspect and maintain medical response equipment, treatment rooms, and rescue gear, following proper cleaning and infection control protocols.
  • Respond to and de-escalate conflicts among guests and staff; assist other departments with conflict resolution and security concerns.
  • Enforce trail safety rules and guidelines, including the Mountain Bike Responsibility Code.
  • Assist with lift evacuations and patient extrication as needed.
  • Participate in local search and rescue operations and provide assistance to emergency services when required.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor, deliver excellent customer service, and ensure a positive guest experience.

Qualifications:

  • At minimum Emergency First Responder, recommended Emergency Medical Responder Professional Responder level courses from recognized training authority (Red Cross, St. Johns Ambulance) or an equivalent or greater qualification ie. AEMCA, ER Nursing etc.
  • Must have your own mountain bike.
  • Must be an experienced mountain biker capable of riding all trails on the resort and performing safety inspections in off-trail or difficult terrain.
  • Strong ability to complete detailed medical treatment reports, accident investigations, and incident documentation.
  • Must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check.
