Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of Operations, this position is responsible for the management and profitability of the Food & Beverage outlet operations and oversees the Banquet department. Assists with the planning, directing and implementing all F&B initiatives while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment. Ensures adherence to all policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and provides a learning environment. Develops performance objectives and delivers performance evaluations for direct reports. Actively participates in the recruitment process. Above all else, must embrace and be aligned with Casino New Brunswick's culture and philosophy of providing outstanding guest experiences.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provides leadership, direction, reporting and mentoring to the F&B operation and Banquet teams; develops performance objectives and delivers performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Assists in the planning, development and implementation of F&B strategic plans as directed at the site level
  • Maximizes the revenues of the F&B outlets and Banquets while minimizing operating costs. Accountable to achieve financial goals and report variances.
  • Manages labour costs; schedules and supervises employees; verifies time and attendance; assigns shift work assignments when necessary
  • Offers food and beverage expertise to internal and external customers
  • Carries out inspections on a regular basis to ensure consistency, reports maintenance and supply deficiencies
  • Assists the monthly inventory count and forwards discrepancies to management
  • Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments
  • Maintain all front of house inventory control levels to meet business volumes
  • Coach and counsel staff in accordance with department and organization policies, procedures and provide performance development guidance and direction
  • Conduct remedial/ disciplinary discussions in accordance with established policies and related documentation
  • Resolve department issues, providing guidance and direction to employees to ensure a positive morale and motivation of all employees is always sustained
  • Develop, promote and participate in training programs for department employees
  • Ensure all NBLGC, Casino New Brunswick and other provincial or federally mandated laws, policies and procedures are stringently enforced at all times
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, ownership, employees, vendors, competitors and regulators
  • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed

Education and Qualification Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' F&B Management experience
  • Post Secondary education in hospitality or suitable combination of education and experience
  • Responsible Beverage Certification (willing to obtain)
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication
  • Computer literacy in MS Office; POS experience preferred
  • Casino or hotel experience an asset
  • Bilingualism is an asset

Work Environment Considerations

  • Fast paced with multiple priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
  • This role requires extended period of standing, walking, bending and may lift up to 35 lbs.
  • The role requires a flexible schedule that adapts to business needs, will have non-traditional work hours including holidays, evening, overnight or weekend shifts.
