This position is available at Nootka Sound Resort, with an expected start date of May 1, 2021.



This position requires a well rounded person with a background and aptitude in general mechanics and maintenance who possesses the ability to adapt and prioritize in an ever changing fast paced environment. Experience with diesel generators, treated septic system, propane systems and UV water purification systems is required.


Requirements for Live-In Fishing Resort Maintenance Technician
(Includes but not limited to):


Education:


  • 4 years experience in related field.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license and clean driver’s abstract.
  • SVOP and boating experience is an asset.
  • Water safe and First Aid courses are an asset.
  • Propane Tank Filling Certification not required but an asset.
  • WHMIS Certification.


Requirements:


  • Very mechanically inclined, including boat and small motors.
  • Experience running and repairing problems with diesel generators, treated septic system and UV water purification systems.
  • General Handyman experience.
  • Ability to perform and follow through with repairs
  • Effective communication, supervision and delegation skills with individuals at all levels, including vendors.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment and construction materials.
  • Ability to communicate problems to technicians off site and facilitate repairs remotely.
  • Ability to walk, stand and crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasks.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs repeatedly through a day.
  • Dedication to the guest’s experience and resort cleanliness.
  • Assist all resort departments and liaise with managers as needed.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Willing to live and work remotely.



Responsibilities:


  • Ensure the safety of guests and crew.
  • Transport crew and equipment to sister resorts, assist in repairs when necessary.
  • Daily record taking of diesel generators, treated septic system and UV water purification systems.
  • Trouble shooting and repairing problems with diesel generators, treated septic system and UV water purification systems.
  • Ongoing pest control around resort.
  • Ensure landscaping and gardens maintained continuously.
  • Resort repairs and General “handyman” duties (boardwalks, railing, doors, locks, vehicles, painting etc.).
  • Handle oils, fuels, solvents and chemicals in a safe manner that is consistent with environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure that security and safety measures are in place in the establishment.
  • Immediately report any incidents that result in property damage or personal injury to staff and/or guests.
  • Follow WHMIS training when handling hazardous materials; ensure staff adhering to WHMIS training.
  • Assisting guests launch watercrafts.
  • Inventory and documentation of resort property.
  • Coordinate and assist offloading and unloading of utilities and supplies of weekly deliveries.
  • Keep all areas of the lodge clean, tidy and free of hazards.
  • Perform emergency duties as required within the scope of your training.
  • Participate in crew safety meetings.
  • Adhere to health & safety standards.
  • Ensure safety and confidentiality of our owners, guests and employees.
  • Adhere to, promote, and contribute to Nootka Marine Adventures’ sustainability policies and goals.


This is a live on site position.
