Job summary:

The Retail Inventory Clerk manages all of Grouse Mountain’s incoming and outgoing Retail product shipments. They are responsible for maintaining and updating our product database and ensuring inventory levels are kept within established guidelines.
They have a keen eye for detail and process improvement and are always looking for opportunities to streamline our back-end processes.

While inventory management is the primary responsibility of this role, excellent customer service and staff leadership are also essential elements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage and maintain retail inventory levels for all store outlets and stock overflow
  • Receive all incoming inventory product and prepare merchandise for stores
  • Physically load and unload incoming/outgoing stock
  • Tracking, developing and maintaining processes for ensuring accurate inventory management
  • Compiling inventory reports, recording the quantity, type and value of materials, stock on hand, using our inventory systems.
  • Collaborating with the Accounting Department on reconciling any discrepancies in inventory data
  • Collaborating with management to report stock issues
  • Assisting management on annual inventory reporting and counts
  • Maintaining standards for merchandizing, stocking, rotation and storing of products and inventory.
  • Entering data for production and scheduling, stock replenishment/relocation and inventory adjustments.
  • Manage product warranty cases and special-order files with vendors
  • Assisting Retail Supervisors with completing opening and closing duties of the department and coordinating day-to-day operations of the retail team.
  • Handling cash and ensuring accounting procedures are followed including daily cash outs and float reconciliation.
  • May lead, guide, and train staff performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation.
  • Achieving and maintaining outstanding customer relations with internal and external guests, including responding to customer comments and concerns while displaying a Guest Obsessed attitude at all times.
  • Promoting a positive work environment and culture by leading by example and maintaining strong and supportive relationships with all staff
  • Other duties as required

  • Provide guests with information regarding all Grouse Mountain products, activities, events, and daily mountain operations schedule. Generate sales through personalized service and strong product knowledge.

  • Show initiative in handling routine matters and have quick, thoughtful judgement in any situation.
  • Possess a willingness to learn new skills and a proactive approach to work.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • On-the-job training will be provided for the successful applicant.
  • 2 years previous experience in a retail/sales role, preferably in outdoor apparel (advantageous).
  • 1 year experience in accounts reconciliation and/or inventory management (advantageous).
  • Ability to reconcile stock counts to report data.
  • Database management skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
  • Ability to receive, stock, and/or deliver goods.
  • Experience in merchandizing and display setup and asset.
  • High attention to detail, with a focus on equipment accuracy and safety.
  • Strong ability to multitask, prioritize and delegate duties amongst a team.
  • Excellent work ethic and attitude, with the ability to thrive in a high-volume, challenging environment.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, and experience with point-of-sale system an asset, including cash handling and cash-out procedures.
  • Available for five days per week and to work a flexible schedule including opening, closing, weekends, and holidays as required.

Compensation and Benefits

$22.00/hour to $25.00/hour

Successful applicants over the age of 19 will be required to provide results of a clear background check valid within six months of the hire date before starting work. Grouse Mountain will assist with this process if the applicant does not have a valid background check.
