JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a visionary Events Manager to lead and expand the events portfolio at Grouse Mountain. With the addition of the Blue Grouse Gondola in 2024, we now have the capacity to host high-volume events and additional festivals. As we approach our centennial next year, this milestone presents an exciting opportunity to elevate our event offerings, significantly boosting both revenue and traffic to Grouse Mountain. We are looking for a creative and dynamic individual who thrives on conceptualizing and executing high-quality, large-scale events.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develop a long-term event strategy for Grouse Mountain, starting with the 2026 centennial year, focused on driving revenue and increasing general admission traffic
  • Oversee and manage the event budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources
  • Conduct post-evaluations, prepare reports, and provide monthly summary updates to senior management
  • Lead and manage the Events Specialist, ensuring smooth event operations and team coordination
  • Maintain effective internal communications to ensure all relevant company functions are kept informed of upcoming events and their requirements
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, sponsors and other external partners to support event execution and growth
  • Identify new event opportunities and innovative approaches to engage diverse audiences
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to enhance event visibility and engagement across various platforms
  • Current events include; Seek the Peak, Multi-Grind, Grouse Grind Mountain Run, Peak of Christmas, Easter, Bearthday Party along with many others

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position provides direct supervision to the Events Specialist.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES

  • Post-secondary education in marketing, business or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in event management or a related role, with a proven track record of executing large-scale events
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team
  • Exceptional project management and financial acumen
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
  • Strong budget management and financial acumen
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with diverse teams
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards in fast-paced environments
  • Creative mindset with the ability to think outside the box and deliver innovative event experiences
  • Experience working with vendors, sponsors and partners to drive event success

WORKING CONDITIONS

Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$75,000 to $85,000 annually
