Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Youth Outreach Activity Leader

Description of Position

Westcoast Women in Engineering, Science and Technology (WWEST), along with the integrative STEM Team Advancing Networks of Diversity (iSTAND), is seeking activity leaders for our upcoming Spring Break, Science Odyssey, Intergenerational STEM, and Summer Break, outreach/camps.

Each of these outreach events provide youth (and some adults) with in-person, hands-on STEM activities in a day-camp style setting. This position requires the successful candidate to be confident in working with WWEST/iSTAND staff to create safe and engaging environments, and help deliver STEM activities for youth aged 5-12. Suitable applicants would have knowledge/passion/interest in science and/or education, and/or working with youth.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with WWEST/iSTAND team members to supervise youth (aged 5-12)
  • Deliver STEM related activities with enthusiasm
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Collaborate with team members
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 15 years of age
  • Experience with youth is an asset
  • Must be available to work on campus 5 days/week
  • Clean criminal record check
  • Full COVID vaccination is required
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Driver’s license and own transportation is preferred but not required

Wage: Hourly wage of $18.00/hour
