*Position Overview *
The Banquet Chef provides effective and proactive leadership in banquet food preparation, execution, and service delivery. Reporting to the Executive Chef, and working closely with the culinary team and other departments, this role ensures seamless coordination that supports the successful execution of events. As an ambassador of the RBC Convention Centre, the Banquet Chef contributes to exceptional guest experiences and plays a key role in supporting Winnipeg?s local tourism industry.
*Primary Functions and Responsibilities *
- Prepare, coordinate, and execute banquet service in a consistent and high-quality manner.
- Train, mentor, and support culinary team members to ensure strong performance and professional conduct.
- Develop and implement work plans to meet banquet schedules and event requirements.
- Analyze kitchen and banquet operations to identify potential issues and propose proactive solutions.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety and health programs, policies, and relevant legislation.
- Monitor proper food handling, rotation, and storage procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments to support the smooth execution of events.
*Job Requirements *
- 3?5 years of culinary experience within the restaurant or hospitality industry.
- Completion of at least 1 year of post-secondary training in a recognized culinary program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Strong creativity, consistency, and technical ability in food preparation.
- Service-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Safe Food Handler certification is considered a strong asset.
- Knowledge of safe food handling, food rotation, and inventory storage practices.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Applicant must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Proof of work or student permit will be required upon hire.
- Basic English comprehension and ability to communicate to ensure safe work practices.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.

This is a scheduled position with salary in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Convention Centre Corporation and the Canadian Union of Public Employees ? Local 500.
