We are seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to join the opening team behind one of Stratford’s most anticipated new hospitality destinations. As The Queen’s Cue prepares to welcome guests into its historic home, you will play an important role in keeping every guest room, public space, event venue and back-of-house area safe, functional and beautifully maintained.
This is a hands-on, day-to-day property care role for someone who takes pride in solving the small issues before they become larger ones. From a quick guestroom repair or touch-up in the pub, to a planned room inspection, meeting room setup or supporting a contractor on a larger repair, your work will help protect the experience our guests remember.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will work closely with hotel leadership, external vendors and specialist contractors to ensure the property remains guest-ready, well maintained and operating smoothly from day one.

Duties And Responsibilities
Assist with final pre-opening readiness, including receiving, assembling, placing and inspecting furniture, fixtures and equipment throughout the hotel. Respond promptly and professionally to guest, associate and departmental maintenance requests, minimizing disruption to the guest experience wherever possible. Complete daily walkthroughs of guest rooms, public areas, meeting and event spaces, the Boar’s Head Pub, back-of-house areas and exterior guest access points. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance in guest rooms, public spaces and operational areas in accordance with hotel standards and maintenance schedules. Complete routine repairs and touch-ups including minor plumbing, lighting, hardware, drywall, painting, furniture, doors, locks, bathroom fixtures and general wear-and-tear repairs. Carry out basic troubleshooting of guestroom equipment, HVAC controls, appliances and building fixtures, escalating larger mechanical, electrical, HVAC or life-safety concerns to the appropriate contractor or specialist. Support the upkeep of meeting rooms, event spaces and food and beverage outlets, including furniture, fixtures, minor equipment repairs and event setup or breakdown as required. Maintain organized maintenance storage areas, tools, supplies and spare-part inventory, reporting low stock or required purchases promptly. Record completed work, outstanding issues, inspections and preventative maintenance activity through hotel work-order and maintenance tracking processes. Assist with vendor and contractor access, follow-up and quality checks for repairs or project work completed on property. Identify unsafe conditions, damage, leaks, unusual equipment performance or potential guest hazards and report them immediately to hotel leadership. Support seasonal property upkeep, including safe walkways, basic exterior maintenance and other weather-related requirements as needed. Follow all hotel, health and safety, WHMIS and emergency-response procedures. Work collaboratively with Front Desk, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage and leadership teams to keep the property operating at its best.

You are a practical, reliable problem-solver who notices when something is not quite right and takes pride in putting it right. You enjoy hands-on work, can prioritize an urgent guest request while staying on top of planned tasks, and understand that the smallest details can have a major impact on a guest’s stay.
You bring experience in general maintenance, building operations, facilities, residential, retail, restaurant or hotel environments. Hotel or restaurant maintenance experience is a strong asset, but we are equally interested in someone with solid practical skills, sound judgement and a genuine willingness to learn.
You are comfortable using hand and power tools and have experience with routine repairs, painting, minor plumbing, basic carpentry and general troubleshooting. You understand when a repair is within your scope and when it is time to involve a qualified contractor or specialist.
You are able to move, lift, carry and place items up to 50 lbs without assistance, work safely on ladders, and perform tasks that involve standing, walking, bending, kneeling and reaching throughout the day. You are available to work a mix of daytime, evening, weekend and holiday shifts based on operational needs.
WHMIS, Working at Heights, First Aid or trade-related training are considered strong assets.
