Role Description The Pastry Cook is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB. This role is responsible for preparing, baking, and finishing a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and baked goods according to the restaurant’s standards and recipes. Day-to-day tasks include measuring and mixing ingredients, operating bakery equipment, portioning and plating desserts, and ensuring consistent presentation and taste. The Pastry Cook maintains strict hygiene and food safety practices, assists with inventory and mise en place, and supports the kitchen team during service. The role also involves contributing creative ideas for new pastry items, adapting to seasonal menus, and collaborating with chefs to meet service timelines and quality expectations. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Baking and Bakery skills, including experience with pastries, breads, and desserts. Candidates should possess solid Cooking skills to support overall kitchen operations when needed. Candidates should possess a high standard of Hygiene and food safety practices, including knowledge of proper storage and sanitation. Candidates should possess Creativity Skills for developing and presenting visually appealing and innovative pastry items. Previous experience in a professional bakery or restaurant pastry kitchen is highly beneficial. Formal culinary or pastry training, certification, or equivalent experience is an asset. Strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively during busy service periods. Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Team-oriented attitude, clear communication skills, and commitment to a respectful, inclusive workplace.
