Manager in Training – Movie Theatre River City Cinema – Peace River, AB

Full-Time | $24.00 per hour Position Overview

Magic Lantern Theatres is seeking a motivated and dependable Manager in Training to join the team at River City Cinemas. This position is designed for someone interested in developing the skills and experience needed to manage a movie theatre. Working alongside the Theatre Manager, the successful candidate will receive hands-on training in team leadership, customer service, theatre operations, inventory management, facility upkeep, administration, and community engagement. The Manager in Training will gradually take on additional responsibility as they demonstrate their knowledge, leadership abilities, and readiness to advance.

Responsibilities Learn all aspects of theatre operations, including concessions, box office, customer service, facility presentation, inventory, cash handling, and administrative procedures. Inspire, coach, and motivate team members to deliver a remarkable entertainment experience. Support the Theatre Manager with supervising, training, and developing employees. Provide friendly and professional service so every customer leaves satisfied and excited about their next visit. Assist with employee scheduling, task delegation, performance feedback, and daily operational planning. Learn inventory ordering, receiving, counting, rotation, and cost-control procedures. Help maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, facility maintenance, and presentation quality. Provide hands-on coverage in concessions, box office, auditorium cleaning, and other customer-service areas as needed. Respond professionally to customer concerns and help resolve issues in a calm and timely manner. Work effectively with the Theatre Manager, supervisors, employees, customers, vendors, and corporate partners. Learn opening, closing, cash-control, reporting, and security procedures. Assist with local events, fundraising initiatives, promotions, and community partnerships. Complete minor maintenance, upkeep, and basic repairs when required. Assume increased leadership and operational responsibilities throughout the training period.

Qualifications Strong interest in developing a career in theatre, retail, hospitality, or entertainment management. Previous leadership, supervisory, retail, food service, or customer-service experience is considered an asset. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to coach, encourage, and work effectively with employees. Excellent customer-service and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to remain calm and professional in busy or stressful situations. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Good computer skills and the ability to learn new systems. Excellent organization and time-management skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to receive feedback, complete training, and take on increasing responsibility. Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to read and interpret training materials, spreadsheets, reports, policies, and operating instructions. Creative thinking related to events, fundraising, promotions, and community engagement. Ability and willingness to complete minor maintenance and facility-upkeep tasks. Secondary school diploma or equivalent required.

Physical Requirements This position regularly requires: Lifting and carrying supplies. Reaching, bending, and kneeling. Standing and walking for extended periods. Ascending and descending stairs. Completing cleaning, stocking, maintenance, and operational duties throughout the theatre.
