General Description Of Program
All Hospitality and Tourism credit courses follow Ministry of Education guidelines and are accepted as credits towards an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). The Hospitality and Tourism Teacher will report to the Principal of St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centres.
Course Codes Include
Hospitality & Tourism: TFJ3C, TFJ4C
Cooking & Pastry: TFC3C, TFC4C, TFB3E, TFB4E
Culinary Arts & Prep: TFN3C, TFN4C, TFE3E, TFE4E, TFR3C, TFR4C
General Description Of Duties
Develop lesson plans and deliver curriculum to students in a classroom and kitchen setting Work as part of a team to guide and further develop the Culinary Program Develop course materials and curriculum content and ensure proper planning and follow up for the academic progress of all students Identify students’ individual learning needs and use a variety of instructional strategies Assess and evaluate the progress of students and discuss results with students to build next steps for improvement Liaise with Administration Assist in the delivery of the co-operative education component of the culinary program to prepare students for placements in the community Administrative duties such as laundry and shopping
Minimum Requirements
A current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification Senior teaching qualifications in the subject area (Technological studies- Hospitality Services) Available for in-person classes
Desirable Assets
Previous experience in the food industry Have previous teaching experience A Red Seal Certificate or equivalent is an asset
Location: St. Louis Main Campus, 80 Young St., Kitchener
Program Hours: 8:45 – 11:45 AM
12:30 – 3:30 PM
Up to 5 hours per week may be added for administrative duties.
Teaching Format: Compressed Schedule (each class is 3 hours per day)
5 terms (37 days per term)
Term assignments are offered each term based on qualifications and seniority
