ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
Are you passionate about fostering connections and warm welcoming environments through unique personalized dining experiences? Under the direction of the Dining Services Manager or designate, our Dining Services Attendants play a critical role in enriching the lives of our residents by providing the highest quality of service in the dining room throughout every meal. Maintains cleanliness of the dietary areas and equipment in accordance with specific standards and regulations.
BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of grade 12 education required. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar serving position preferred. An understanding of food service and preparation is essential. Must have a valid regional safe food handler’s certificate. Must have a valid alcohol serving certificate. Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in the English language. Dependable, responsible and an ability to work well with others in a team environment and independently. Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence. Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Participates in and adheres to continuous quality improvement standards. Serves meals in the dining room to residents and guests. Ensures that the proper dietary restrictions are followed for residents. Helps to meet residents’ personal preferences. Sets dining room tables, and clears the dining room of dishes, utensils, etc. Maintains cleanliness in dining area including washing dishes, pots, pans, and cleaning kitchen equipment and area, as assigned according to established cleaning procedures. Sanitizes dishwasher area after each meal. Ensures temperature records and food samples are taken and labeled as per regulations, reporting any deficiencies. Utilizes point of sale system for guest and resident meals. Portions desserts, appetizers and meals for serving in the dining room as well as serves snacks. Receives and stores food supplies. Provides assistance to the cook in the preparation of food and assembly of salad/sandwich plates, as assigned. Complies with infection control processes and protocols as directed, e.g. outbreak management. Under the direction of the Health & Wellness Manager, or designate, the Enriched Living Facilitator position is focused on enriching Villager’s lives by ensuring they can make their own choices and lead full lives as independently as they can. Responsible for delivering care, facilitating activity programming, serving and preparing meals, and ensuring Villager households are kept neat and tidy according to policies and procedures, and established standards of care as instructed by the Health and Wellness Manager, or LPN/RN in absence of the Health and Wellness Manager, or designate.

Supports Villagers’ optimal level of functioning in their activities of daily living while respecting their rights and choices. Performs care procedures in accordance with the standards of resident care as set out in the established policies and procedures. Responsible for observing and reporting/documenting changes in the Villagers’ physical and emotional condition, as well as monitoring vital signs. Maintains health records in compliance with legislations (i.e. Privacy Act). Provides shift report to oncoming staff. Completes documentation accurately and legibly according to policies and procedures. Assists in monitoring of specific interventions regularly and offers information or suggestions for improvement. Provides ongoing support to co-workers and acts as advocate for Villagers and families to ensure Villagers’ rights are protected. Utilizes equipment and supplies effectively and in accordance with policies and procedures, manufacturer’s instructions, and health and safety regulations. Ensures Villagers’ living space and personal belongings are kept clean, free from safety hazards, and organized according to residents’ personal choice. Engaging Villagers to participate actively in The Village Community. Responsible for leading household life enrichment activities. Participating as a member of a self-led home-making team, including household instrumental activities of daily living such as housekeeping and laundry duties and preparing/serving meals and beverages. Follows routine practices in all aspects of care and complies with other infection control protocols as directed, e.g. outbreak management. Administers medication and treatments in accordance with current approved standards of care, policies, and procedures. Maintains effective communication and good interpersonal relations with Villagers, families, physicians, and other departments. Uses the appropriate lines of communication with supervisory staff. Performs other duties as assigned by the Health and Wellness Manager or delegate. Complies with all corporate policies and procedures. Completes all required mandatory training/education. Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System/Globally Harmonized System. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills.
