About the role

Metanoia Café & Dessert Bar is looking for a passionate, creative, and detail-oriented Pastry Chef & Baker to join our growing team.

We are a high-end café known for specialty pastries, elevated desserts, espresso-based drinks, and exceptional customer experience. We are looking for someone who takes pride in quality, consistency, cleanliness, and presentation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and bake various dessert items
  • Prepare and bake various savoury items
  • Assist with daily pastry production and preparation
  • Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and quality
  • Follow recipes and production standards
  • Monitor inventory and freshness of ingredients
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment
  • Work efficiently during busy production hours
  • Assist with new menu and seasonal item development
  • Set the pastry and savoury display as per instructions.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in pastry or bakery production
  • Knowledge of laminated doughs, creams, fillings, and dessert preparation
  • Knowledge of recipe conversation to product without training.
  • Ability to work early morning shifts (5am start time)
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Can work independently and able to provide the list of products required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Professional attitude and strong work ethic
  • Food Handler Certification is a must
