About the role
We're Gatherwell – and we're transforming the BC coastline into spaces to gather Skip the bar. Hit the ocean instead. Gatherwell (gatherwell.ca) operates waterfront saunas and cold plunges where people collect & connect – hosted, social, four seasons a year, and right in your backyard.
Eight months ago there was one site at Ambleside. By October it'll be five: Ambleside is already open, Mosquito Creek Marina and a sauna boat in False Creek both open this month, with two Vancouver Island locations including Esquimalt right behind them. There are more in the pipeline after that.
Our founder is spending his time on the developement pipeline and those builds – the sites, the contractors, the builders, the funding. The business that already exists needs someone to keep it running smoothly.
If you want to run a real, fast-growing business with the autonomy & opportunity that comes with that – this is where you'll do it.
The Role: General Manager You'll run the whole operation, reporting to the Founder & CEO. Site managers and hosts report to you. The P&Ls are yours. What gets offered, when it runs, what it costs and what it earns – yours.
Some days that's five sites' worth of booking data and the call to kill a morning slot that has never once filled. Some days a heater goes down and you're finding a trade who'll be there before the afternoon sessions. And some days it's deciding what a Gatherwell session should even be next season.
Most of the operating system for a five-site wellness company doesn't exist yet – the SOPs, the reporting, the standards that make site five feel like site one. Nobody's handing you a binder. You'll write it while the business keeps moving: when the data says a slot isn't earning, it goes this week and the system catches up around it.
That's what takes Gatherwell multi-city. The bar is simple: it should all run just as well without the founder in the room as it does with him.
What You'll Do Own the site P&Ls – track localized expenses, find the waste, and keep every location aligned to the financial targets Turn the booking calendar into a revenue lever – read demand by slot and site, scale back low-yield sessions, add capacity where the community shows up, and run promotions when they'll actually move something Lead the site managers and hosts – hire, onboard, train, and hold the standard across a footprint spanning West Vancouver, North Vancouver, False Creek, and Vancouver Island Build and run the programming – community runs, social sweats, and partner collaborations, alongside the marketing lead who owns the brand Keep the spaces flawless – coordinate maintenance, logistics, and trades so the physical guest experience never slips, and take the escalations the host team can't Build the operating system from scratch – the SOPs, the reporting rhythm, and the standards that let the business open the next site without breaking the last one
What We're Looking For Must-Haves 3+ years running operations at physical, customer-facing locations – multi-unit operations, hospitality management, fitness or wellness studio leadership, or regional retail, with on-site teams reporting to you You've built the process, not inherited it – SOPs, systems, or structures that didn't exist before you turned up You've carried a P&L, an operating budget, or the cost lines for a location or a region – the numbers were yours to move You're based in Greater Vancouver – able to work from Mount Pleasant and visit our North Shore sites Nice-to-Haves You've run more than one location at a time – multi-unit, area, or regional scope A background specifically in wellness, fitness, spa, recreation, or hospitality Sauna, cold plunge, yoga, or breathwork is something you actually do You've helped open a new physical location – site selection, build-out, permitting, or launch Time at an independent, founder-led, or early-stage business You've owned a programming, class, or event calendar – deciding what runs, not just staffing it You've set pricing or run promotions and know what they did to revenue AI tools are already part of how you work
Why This Role Is Different There's no playbook for this, because nobody has written one – you'd be the first to work out how multi-site sauna businesses in Canada scale. What a good week looks like, how many sessions a site should run, what it costs to open the next one: nobody can hand you those numbers, because nobody has them You're here for the part that only happens once – one site eight months ago, five by October. What you build now is what every site after this grows into. It should be as easy to find your people at Ambleside as it is in Esquimalt, and making that true is a big part of the job Hospitality without the bar – everything is shut by ten. No liquor licence, no last call, no 2am. All the social energy of a venue business, but home before Cinderella.
Compensation & Details Base salary: $90,000-$110,000 CAD, depending on experience Performance bonus: up to $20,000 a year, paid quarterly – tied to revenue, capacity yield, and operational efficiency, which are the three things you control Perks: unlimited sauna and cold plunge for you and a partner, 8 guest passes a month to hand out, and a free private booking at every location each year Health spending account: $2,500 a year Wellness spending account: $1,000 a year for the gym, ski pass or meditation retreats, – for a company that sells wellness, this one gets used Travel: fully covered – transit, mileage, and ferries, so the Island visits cost you nothing but the day Location: Vancouver – working from Mount Pleasant alongside the founder, with regular visits to every site Reports to: Founder & CEO Employment type: Full-time
If you want to run a fast-growing business that's making Vancouver an easier place to gather & connect – we'd love to meet you.
