About the role

Prepares, portions and serves of quality food for residents in accordance with Ministry, Public Health and other regulations. Cook II - Temporary Full Time for 3 months, with possibility of extension Responsibilities: Prepares and cooks food and snacks according to pre-determined requirements, palatability and menu/recipe, ensuring an appetizing appearance Pre-prepares menu items according to menu (regular and vegetarian) Inspects and tastes food for quality Accurately portions and serves food to residents Performs food preparation Complies with sanitary regulations in the food preparation process Maintains and cleans equipment. Maintains production areas, storage rooms and refrigeration areas are in a clean and organized condition Responsible for taking temperature log of refrigerator/freezer and food temperature Monitors food stock and makes timely report to management for replenishment Responsible for stock rotation Assists in receiving delivery and ensuring accuracy of order delivered Complies with risk management policy for health and safety and GHS Follows protocols to comply with standards from Ministry, public health and other regulatory body Keeps up-to-date with developments and best practices in the field Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Completion of Chef Training diploma or diploma/certificate/apprenticeship in Culinary Management, Cook, Food and Nutrition or equivalent Current Food Handler Safety Certificate Minimum 3 years proven institutional cooking experience Familiarity with Asian cuisine and use of industrial size wok an asset. Practical and theoretical knowledge of quantity food production, and knowledge of sanitation and safety standards for food services area Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen Ability to communicate in English.
