About the Opportunity
Cook
- Plans and prepares meals according to established standards, procedures, recipes and menus, including preparing special meals to meet appropriate therapeutic menu modifications according to established guidelines
- Assists with preparation of food for special functions (e.g. catering, theme dinners) to ensure service meets established standards
- Reports any recipe shortages, discrepancies or quality issues to the Executive Chef or supervisor in a timely manner
- Executes departmental policies, procedures and guidelines as a member of the divisional Food Services Team
- Executes food services for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner within a Supportive Living Lifestyle dining room in accordance to Brand Standards
- Executes food Services for special functions such as catering and theme dinners to ensure service meets established standards
- Consistently ensures food quality, presentation, and service delivery meet established department standards; ensures meals are attractive, the correct temperature and portion size, and that service is timely
- Introduces self to new resident in the dining rooms as part of resident orientation / welcome
- Responds to resident food service needs and expectations in accordance to service expectations
- Effectively communicates and interacts with residents, family members, visitors and volunteers in a courteous and professional manner
- Assists in the orientation of new Team Members to ensure standards are met
- Clean and sanitize cooking station daily; maintain the cleanliness of kitchen equipment such as ovens, kettles, mixers, and others in order to maintain safety and sanitation in the kitchen to meet legislative and organizational standards; responsible for the clear and correct labeling of excess food
- Follows disposal procedures according to established waste management guidelines for organics, paper, plastics, cans/bottles, non-recyclable material, etc.
Dishwasher
- Processing all dishware and maintaining sanitation of dish machine, kitchen aide and dish sinks according to established cleaning guidelines
- Returning clean dishware to appropriate storage areas for use by Culinary Services employees
- Bussing of tables in the dining rooms and catering areas as required
- Maintaining cleanliness to standard in the kitchen and kitchen aide areas
- All other duties as assigned
Server / Dietary Aide
- Consistently ensures food quality, presentation, and service delivery meet established department standards. Ensures meals are attractive, the correct temperature and portion size, and that service is timely
- Follows production sheets to guide food preparation and assist with cost control
- Stays up to date with the specific needs of each resident e.g. diet restrictions, allergies and special requests/accommodations.
- Stays up to date with daily changes related to menus and/or residents.
- Familiarizes self with the specific needs of each client e.g. diet restrictions, allergies and special requests/accommodations
- Assists with the process for checking and receiving of deliveries and inventory control. Ensures all supplies are stored, labelled, and rotated properly
- Makes sure that the Servery and dining room appearance meets set standards for cleanliness, organization and set up prior to meal service.
- Processes pots, pans, and dishware and maintains sanitation dishwasher and dish sinks according to established and required cleaning guidelines.
- Immediately reports any equipment temperature issues to manager and takes corrective action as necessary.
- Participates in the client and employee incident reporting and investigation process as required
- Reports areas and equipment in need of repair to the maintenance department
- Ensures kitchen appearance meets established standards for cleanliness and organization
Housekeeper

Thoroughly clean common areas including lobbies, hallways, and stairwells

Sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning and sanitizing kitchens and bathrooms.

Completes common area housekeeping duties as per assignment

Collect refuse from residents' rooms and dispose of this refuse in accordance with set procedures;

Documents all completed job routine tasks

Completes audits and inspections as required

Completes resident’s personal laundry services as requested

Communicates supply needs to People Leader in a timely manner

Efficiently uses supplies and equipment to maintain service quality levels

Clean and restock housekeeping cart; notify Supervisor when supplies are low;

Promote safety culture by continuously working safely including but not limited to identifying and reporting hazards, following safe work practices and procedures, wearing personal protective equipment, supporting others to work safely and completing safety education.
About You
In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:
Cook
- A high-school diploma or a GED
- Current food handlers’ certificate considered an asset
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
- Bilingualism in English and French considered an asset
- Ability to read & follow detailed recipes/instructions as required and communicate in an efficient manner in a team-oriented setting
- Ability to provide a clear criminal record check
- A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care.
Dishwasher/Server/Housekeeper
- A high-school diploma or GED
- Ability to work a schedule of flexible hours and shifts inclusive of days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to provide a clear criminal record check
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a similar role
- Bilingualism in English and French considered an asset
- CPR & Emergency First Aid Certification and/or Basics Food Safety Training/ Food Handler's course would be considered an asset
- Previous experience working with seniors in a Retirement Living or Long-Term Care environment would be considered an asset
- A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care
- A high level of initiative and commitment to completing assignments efficiently and in a warm, friendly, and customer-service-oriented manner
- Knowledge of infection control and prevention practices
