About the role
Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and skilled Cook to join our culinary services team at our healthcare partner. The ideal candidate will have a passion for preparing nutritious meals and a strong understanding of dietary requirements in a health-focused environment. As a Cook, you will play a critical role in supporting the health and well-being of residents or patients by preparing meals that are safe, nourishing, and enjoyable.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Food Handler Certificate (required)
- COVID-19 Vaccination (required)
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check (required)
- 2-Step Tuberculosis (TB) Test or Chest X-Ray (proof required)
- Previous experience in healthcare, senior living, or institutional food service is an asset
- Ability to understand and accommodate dietary restrictions and texture modifications
- Strong knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation practices
- Excellent communication, time management, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays as required
Experience
- Previous experience in a Long term care home, Retirement Home kitchen or food service environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with food handling, preparation, and safety protocols.
- Knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines is an advantage.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a kitchen setting.
