Essential Job Duties:

  • Prepare nutrient‑dense meals to support the physical demands of tree‑planting work.
  • Support the Head Cook with all kitchen operations and delegated tasks.
  • Assist with daily meal service, including breakfast, lunch table, block treats, and dinner.
  • Drive to pick up food orders and assist with kitchen inventory management.
  • Facilitate kitchen and dining tent setup and take down.
  • Ensure the kitchen and dining tent meet regulations at all times.
  • Implement and follow food safety management practices.
  • Apply knowledge of tree‑planting operations to anticipate planter needs and support efficient camp workflows, contributing to a well‑organized and responsive camp environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and food preparation areas.
  • Support overall camp cleanliness, including maintaining showers, tents, washroom facilities, and common areas.
  • Organize equipment before, during, and after shifts.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
  • Ensure the camp exceeds company standards and OH&S compliance.
  • Comply with applicable federal, provincial, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Spectrum and Wright Canada Holdings culture of safety and employee ownership.

Other Duties:

  • Position will require travel to, from and between work sites.
  • During emergencies or natural disasters may be required to be on duty for the duration of the disaster.
  • Operate trucks and ATVs.

Knowledge, Skills & Ability Requirements:

  • Able to lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds frequently.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills, including effective equipment organization before, during, and after shifts.
  • Adaptable to a dynamic, fast‑paced, and continually changing work environment.
  • Self‑motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Capable of prioritizing multiple and competing tasks as new situations arise.
  • Able to read, write, and communicate in English at a level sufficient to perform job duties and interact with employees and vendors.
  • Strong decision‑making, organizational, and time‑management abilities.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with employees at all levels.
  • Willing and able to work, live, and thrive in a remote camp setting.

Education, Certification & Experience Requirements:

(The minimum level of education obtained, certifications held, or experience in years acceptable for the role.)

  • No prior cooking experience required; must demonstrate an eagerness to learn and an interest in cooking
  • 2 years of tree‑planting experience preferred

Other Preferred Requirements: (driver’s license, CDL, pesticide or herbicide license, CPR or first-aid certified)

  • A valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License, or equivalent, and a current Driver’s Abstract
  • Preference may be given to candidates holding a valid BC Intermediate or Advanced First Aid certification, or equivalent
