About the role

The hourly wage rate for this position is $22.  Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. We are seeking a professional, energetic, and customer-focused Receptionist / Catering Server to join our Conference Services team. This full-time dual-role position combines front desk reception responsibilities with conference and catering service support. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service to guests, clients, and conference attendees while ensuring the smooth operation of meetings, events, and catering services.

Key Responsibilites

Reception duties:

  • Welcome and assist guests, visitors, and conference attendees in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls and email inquiries.
  • Manage visitor registration, sign-in procedures, and security protocols.
  • Provide information regarding conference schedules, meeting locations, and facility services.
  • Coordinate meeting room bookings and maintain conference calendars.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, courier deliveries, and administrative correspondence.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception area.

 

Catering & Confrence Services

  • Set up and break down meeting rooms according to event requirements.
  • Prepare and replenish coffee stations, refreshments, buffets, and catered meal services.
  • Serve food and beverages during meetings, conferences, training sessions, and special events.
  • Monitor catering areas to ensure cleanliness, presentation, and adequate inventory levels.
  • Clear tables and service areas promptly and professionally.
  • Assist with room resets between meetings and events.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety standards.
  • Support inventory control and report supply needs to management.
  • Work collaboratively with conference services, catering, and facilities teams to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Clear up and replenish kitchenette/pantries throughout the office. 

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in reception, hospitality, catering, food service, or customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Professional appearance and customer-service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Scheduling Flexibility
  • Strong multi-tasking skills

Prefered

  • Food Safe Certification and serving it right 
  • Experience in hospitality, conference centres, hotels, corporate offices, or event venues.
  • Knowledge of meeting room technology and conference equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
  • Ability to bend, reach, and move catering supplies and equipment as required.

Employement Status

Full-Time, Permanent

Schedule: Monday to Friday, with occasional early mornings, evenings, based on conference and event requirements.
