SGH Design Partners is looking for an energetic and motivated Junior Interior Designer to join our Vancouver Studio!
Location: 1110 Hamilton Street, Vancouver, British Columbia, V6B 2S2 Canada Job Type: Full-Time (In-Person)

With studios in Toronto, Vancouver, and Halifax, our team brings a National perspective and local expertise to every workplace project we undertake. Our studios operate as in-studio creative and collaborative environments. At SGH, you will join a team of curious and talented designers focused on corporate workplace design, along with an expanding portfolio in hospitality and multi family residential projects. You will collaborate directly with one or more of our partners, ensuring a high level of engagement, accountability, and design leadership throughout each project.
The Position As a Junior Designer at SGH Design Partners, you will be an integral part of our Vancouver studio, working alongside our partners and creative teams while gaining hands on experience in the dynamic world of interior design. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate professional eager to learn through mentorship, contribute to real projects, and build practical skills in a fast-paced, creative industry, offering valuable insight into the day-to-day realities of design practice, client collaboration, and bringing inspiring spaces to life.
You will support the design and documentation process across all project phases, working closely with senior designers nationally and project teams from pre-design through project close out. This role offers the opportunity to develop technical and design skills while contributing to workplace projects in a collaborative studio environment. You’ll gain exposure to concept development, project documentation, client meetings, and construction administration while building a strong foundation for your design career.
This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate professional eager to learn through mentorship, contribute to real projects, and build practical skills in a creative industry, offering valuable insight into the day to day realities of design practice, client collaboration, and bringing inspiring spaces to life.
Qualifications • Degree or diploma in Interior Design • 3-5 years of local Canadian interior design experience within the local industry • Experience working on workplace or commercial office projects • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft 365 • Strong understanding of design documentation and construction drawing standards • Knowledge of BC Building Code and accessibility requirements is considered an asset • Working toward NCIDQ certification is considered an asset • Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills • Canadian project experience required
What You Bring • Passion for workplace design and creating thoughtful, people focused environment • Strong design sensibility with an interest in current workplace trends and evolving ways of working • Ability to contribute to project teams while taking initiative and ownership of assigned tasks • Strong visualization, graphic communication, and presentation skills • Excellent organizational and time management skills • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work • Strong communication and collaboration skills • Willingness to learn from senior team members and contribute to a collaborative studio culture • Basic understanding of local building codes, accessibility standards, and construction documentation • Interest in sustainable design principles such as LEED, WELL, or Fitwel
Key Responsibilities • Support project teams throughout all phases of design and project delivery • Assist with concept development, space planning, and workplace design strategies • Prepare presentation materials, finish palettes, mood boards, and client presentations • Assist in preparing architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documentation • Participate in client, consultant, and internal project meetings • Coordinate drawings with engineering consultants under senior direction • Conduct site surveys, field measurements, and existing conditions documentation • Support furniture planning, finish selections, and material research • Participate in construction administration, including site visits and reviewing field conditions • Research products, finishes, furniture, and workplace trends • Maintain project documentation, time tracking, and project records • Report weekly to the assigned Team Lead on project progress • Participate in SGH design initiatives, lunch & learns, and studio events
