About the role
We’re looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Room Checker to join our Housekeeping team at Red Deer Resort & Casino. The ideal candidate will ensure guest rooms meet the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and readiness prior to guest arrival. The Room Checker plays an important role in maintaining quality standards and delivering an exceptional guest experience.
Summary
Under the direction of the Executive Housekeeper, the Room Checker is responsible for inspecting guest rooms after cleaning to ensure they meet company cleanliness, presentation, and safety standards. This position works closely with Room Attendants, Supervisors, and other departments to ensure rooms are guest-ready and hotel standards are maintained at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Inspect guest rooms after cleaning to ensure cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards are met.

Verify that all guest amenities, linens, towels, toiletries, and supplies are properly stocked.

Ensure rooms are prepared and ready for guest arrivals and occupancy.

Identify deficiencies, damages, maintenance issues, or missing items and report them to the Supervisor/Manager.

Re-inspect rooms after corrective actions have been completed when required.

Maintain room inspection records and update room status as necessary.

Coordinate with Housekeeping staff to ensure timely completion of room cleaning and inspections.

Ensure hallways, housekeeping storage rooms, and assigned areas remain clean and organized.

Respond to guest requests and inquiries promptly and professionally.

Report lost and found items according to established procedures.

Promptly report maintenance concerns and safety hazards to the Supervisor/Manager.

Take responsibility for housekeeping equipment and ensure proper use and storage.

Maintain knowledge of cleaning chemicals, products, and safe handling procedures.

Attend departmental meetings, briefings, and training sessions as directed.

Report unusual or suspicious activities to management to ensure the safety of guests and staff.

Assist with training and coaching Room Attendants on cleanliness and room presentation standards.

The immediate Supervisor/Manager may change duties depending on operational requirements.

Perform other duties as required.
Education, Qualification and Requirements

Previous housekeeping, room attendant, hotel, or room inspection experience preferred.

Must be able to provide a clean criminal record check.

Physically able to perform all duties associated with the position.

Strong attention to detail and quality control skills.

Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of housekeeping chemicals, cleaning products, and equipment.

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification is considered an asset.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English.

Positive attitude with strong teamwork skills.

First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.
Work Environment

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.

Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, and moving items.

Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, water, dust, and cleaning chemicals.

Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Exposure to housekeeping environments including guest rooms, hallways, and storage areas.

Fast-paced hospitality environment requiring flexibility and attention to detail.
Hours of Work
The hours of work for this position will vary based on operational requirements and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional late-night shifts.
