Nortera Tecumseh is currently looking for a highly motivated, energetic individual to join our Packaging team as a full-time Quality Assurance Helper. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the helper is responsible for providing a key skill set of technical and quality knowledge, which includes being an example in the department and helping lead other line employees by ensuring procedures and processes are followed, and GMPs are complied with at all times.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collect and organize all relevant paperwork, usage cards from tote room drivers, and micro and library samples from the previous shift
- Verify metal detectors, package seals, package and shipper codes, art copies, and barcode scanners
- Perform first off and changeover checks, bucket tests to verify individual components of mixes on the line, and package tear-downs to verify components in packages
- Conduct attribute tests and rechecks to ensure adherence to specifications
- Prepare finished product quality sheets, collect samples, and perform cooking/tasting tests
- Ensure the OFS log is completed accurately
- Conduct daily plant tours of the packaging area
- Verify room temperature, lighting, and glass conditions
- Perform pre-operational inspection for equipment and conduct microbiological and allergen swabs
- Monitor for GMP concerns
- Provide guidance on quality matters to other packaging employees, and may help train new employees
- Other duties as may be assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- 1-2 years of prior experience in a quality-related position required.
- Ability to work together with multiple teams and drive action to troubleshoot and correct quality-related concerns.
- Detail-oriented in training and monitoring quality test procedures and results in multiple departments.
- Good working understanding of the procedures for required quality testing in Bulk, Packaging operations.
- Must be able to meet minimum dexterity requirements of this position: bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, crouching, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, etc.
- Adherence to all GMPs at all times and proper use of PPE.
- Safe and proper line operation as per SOPs or work instructions.
- Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and willingness to learn
- Work in mainly hot and cold environments
- Good computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word, and Datahex would be considered an asset
- Proven ability to work diligently as a team in a fast-paced environment with tight time restrictions to meet deadlines
- Rotating 8-hour shifts (Monday–Friday), with a bi-weekly rotation between Days, Afternoons, and Nights - open to on-call shifts including over-time
- The wage range for this role is $19.84 per hour.
