About the role

Destination Host & Storyteller – Cruise Ships Worldwide

Strong Base + Commission Potential | Travel the World While You Earn Flights, Accommodation, Meals & Training Included on Selected Contracts

The Cruise Retail Academy is recruiting Destination Hosts & Storytellers for prestigious onboard roles across world-class cruise fleets, spanning itineraries throughout the Caribbean, Alaska, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.

This is not a traditional guide role. It's designed for engaging, knowledgeable professionals who can bring a destination to life on stage — and then translate that excitement into genuine guest recommendations one-on-one.

The Role As a Destination Host & Storyteller, you will be the trusted voice guests turn to for everything about their voyage and the ports along the way — delivering live presentations, hosting enrichment talks, and offering personalised guidance that helps guests make the most of every stop.

You will: Deliver engaging, educational Destination and Shopping presentations to onboard audiences Host enrichment talks and contribute to scripts and presentation content Offer personalised one-on-one consultations on shopping, excursions, local customs, and must-see spots Maintain a strong, welcoming presence at the gangway and throughout guest-facing areas Build genuine guest relationships, identifying needs and recommending tailored experiences Support onboard revenue goals through guest-first, trust-led recommendations Manage onboard marketing materials, digital signage, and daily programme content Collaborate with onboard leadership and revenue teams to align events with the voyage plan Continuously build destination knowledge to stay credible, current, and engaging

The balance between presenting and sales varies depending on ship and itinerary — some routes lean toward destination storytelling and guest enrichment, while others carry a stronger sales and commission focus. We'll always be transparent about which best matches your strengths.

About You You may come from tour guiding, destination presenting, hospitality, travel hosting, or another premium guest-facing environment. You bring: 2–4 years' experience delivering engaging guest-facing presentations, tours, or events 1–3 years' experience in sales or guest engagement, ideally including target- or commission-based environments Strong destination knowledge, or the ability to quickly learn and confidently present new content The ability to build genuine guest relationships and recommend tailored experiences Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills A polished, professional presence and the resilience to thrive in a fast-paced shipboard environment Self-motivation and the discipline to manage your own time and workload

Multiple languages are a strong advantage. Cruise experience is helpful but not essential — destination knowledge and presence matter more.

Why This Role Stands Out This goes beyond a guide role. It's about: Becoming the guest's first and most trusted point of contact for every port Bringing cultures, history, and experiences to life through storytelling Building a truly global career — new destinations, new audiences, every voyage

For the right person, this role offers global travel, strong earning potential, and a genuinely international platform to build a career at the intersection of destinations, presenting, and guest experience.
