About the role
850 Degrees is a stone-baked Neapolitan pizzeria in the heart of Longbranch, serving the Etobicoke community since 2014. We're a tight-knit, fast-paced team that takes pride in doing the simple things exceptionally well — quality ingredients, proper technique, and genuine hospitality.
Our kitchen runs on speed, standards, and teamwork. If you like a clean station, a busy night, and working alongside people who care about what they put on the plate, you'll fit right in.
The Role
We're hiring a Kitchen Assistant to support our pizzaiolo and back-of-house team. This is a hands-on role for someone who moves with purpose, keeps a tidy station, and wants to learn the craft from people who take pizza seriously.
What You'll Do
- Prep ingredients: washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning vegetables, proteins, and dough components
- Assist the pizzaiolo on the line during service
- Make starters and desserts to recipe and spec
- Maintain a spotless kitchen: dishes, surfaces, floors, walls, and equipment
- Receive deliveries, rotate stock, and organize the walk-in and dry storage
- Move ingredients from storage to the line as needed
- Follow all food safety and hygiene standards without compromise
- Lift up to 25 kg comfortably and safely
What We're Looking For
- Reliable, energetic, and a strong team player
- Comfortable on your feet for full shifts in a hot, fast-paced kitchen
- Solid time management and ability to work cleanly under pressure
- Clear communicator who takes direction well and asks good questions
- Food Handler Certification is preferred (we'll help you get certified if you don't have it)
- Prior kitchen experience is a bonus but not required — attitude matters more than résumé
What We Offer
- Competitive hourly pay
- Free staff meals on shift
- Uniform provided
- Flexible scheduling
- On-the-job training from experienced operators
- Real growth opportunities — several of our current leads started exactly where you'd be starting
