Top Prospect Internship Program

About the role

The Top Prospects internship program is designed to give university students in their final year of study or recent university graduates an immersive, eight-month look at what it is like to work in the professional sports industry while gaining valuable hands-on experience. Once scouting is complete this off-season, our rookies will join the team for training camp starting on September 1, 2026, and will conclude their terms on April 30, 2027. (Please note that at this time, dates are subject to change.) All internships are onsite at our office, right next to Rogers Arena in downtown Vancouver.

Our Top Prospects interns will be assigned to a core department but will also have the opportunity to work closely with other departments. Below are a list of department that you could possibly be placed with:

Business Intelligence

Our Business Intelligence (BI) team works closely with the ticketing, marketing, and partnership departments in the organization. They are responsible for developing reports, analyzing results, providing CRM support, and providing data-driven recommendations to support these departments. Example projects include managing and tracking ticket inventory, survey planning and execution, and fan insight reports. Experience with Excel, SQL, and Python is required for the BI internship.

Communications

The Communications department supports all Canucks Sports & Entertainment communications efforts, leading media relations, coordinating interview requests, and ensuring consistent messaging across our teams and business operations. Communications interns support a wide range of activities, including setting up media areas on game days, monitoring daily media coverage, compiling statistical and historical information, creating and distributing media credentials, and contributing to the production of materials such as game day lineups and media guides. Communications interns are expected to work game nights as needed and must demonstrate strong written communication skills.

Community Engagement & Social Impact

The Community Engagement & Social Impact team aims to connect and engage with our fans and is partnered with community initiatives such as the Canucks for Kids Fund, the Canucks Autism Network, and the Canucks Family Education Centre. They participate in various community events throughout the year and are responsible for minor hockey programs at Rogers Arena and the donation in kind program. Community Engagement & Social Impact interns will also support our Tickets for Kids, Fan Mail, and Fin’s Friends programs and will be required to work community events, game nights and weekends as needed. Experience with Excel is required for this internship. Ability to skate is an asset.

Content

The Content team works closely with the Marketing department to develop content and execute the strategic vision for our website and social media platforms. The Content Intern will take on a technical role, assisting with shooting video at events and practices, editing features for social media, recording team media availabilities, and acting as a production assistant on shoots. Applicants for this internship are required to have experience with Sony cameras and Adobe Creative Cloud experience, particularly in Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere (or Final Cut/DaVinci) and are asked to submit a PDF file or link to their portfolio of work with their application. The Content Intern is required to work game nights as needed and will also support the Abbotsford Canucks and Vancouver Warriors.

Event Services

The Event Services intern will be responsible for the planning, execution, and management of small events at Rogers Arena. This includes preparing all required event documentation, reviewing all event reports, and following up on action items. They will also have the opportunity to take on special projects and shadow our Event Managers on planning and managing large scale events like Canucks games and concerts. This intern will be required to work event nights and weekends as needed and will start in August 2026.

Fan Services

The Fan Services department is part of the larger Event Services department and works tirelessly to ensure our fans have the best experience possible at hockey games, lacrosse games, and concerts at Rogers Arena. The Fan Services Intern will assist with a multitude of fan initiatives and programs, including arena tours, the Canucks Kids Club, and event services planning and marketing projects, and with fielding fan inquiries over the phone and by email. The Fan Services Intern will be required to work event nights and weekends as needed and this internship will start in August 2026.

Finance

The Finance Intern will have the opportunity to interact with and shadow senior members of the Finance team and with various departments across the organization. They will be responsible for a multitude of tasks including processing invoices, verifying expense reports, updating balance sheet reconciliation working papers, and completing bank reconciliations.

Graphic Design

Our Designers develop internal and fan-facing creative designs and concepts across a wide range of media, including print, online, social, out-of-home and broadcast. The Design Intern will collaborate with our Creative and Marketing departments to execute ad designs, version out assets and prep files. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud is required. Applicants are required to submit a link to their portfolio of work for review with your application. Only those with an online portfolio will be considered.

Information Technology

The Information Technology (IT) department services not just Canucks Sports & Entertainment but all Aquilini Group companies. The IT intern will assist the team in setting up equipment for new employees, monitoring inventory of computer equipment, and providing first-level support to employees on hardware and software issues as they arise. The IT intern will also contribute to special projects for the IT team and will be required to work event nights as needed.

Marketing

The Marketing department leads the development and execution of marketing collateral supporting all of CSE’s teams and brands. The Marketing Interns will support marketing campaign development and execution for the Vancouver Canucks, Vancouver Warriors, and Abbotsford Canucks. They will track project progress on Wrike, execute on event emails, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on project objectives and support the company’s other business units, including ticket sales, membership experience, Canucks For Kids Fund, etc.

Partnership Marketing

The Partnership Marketing team works in conjunction with our Partnership Sales team, as well as every other department in the company, to bring our corporate partners’ visions to life, and are responsible for ensuring all partner activations are executed flawlessly. The Partnership Marketing Intern will assist in bringing activations to life and set up and tear down of activations on event days, including digital activations, in-market contests, and signage. They will also build reports for partners and help coordinate department events and will be required to work game nights as needed.

People & Scheduling

The People team is responsible for all human resources functions, including attracting, developing, supporting, and retaining a team of passionate employees who share our company values. People Interns will participate in a full recruitment and onboarding cycle for new event staff team members and will experience various other HR initiatives such as HR systems administration, payroll, and other employee engagement activities. The People Interns will also support large scale staff scheduling, including availability updates, time-off requests, deployment changes, and maintaining staffing levels for events, as well as, assisting with the distribution and organization of uniforms for our part-time staff. People Interns are required to work events as needed and these internships will start in August.

Premium Hospitality

With over 80 executive suites, seven clubs and restaurants and a full-service catering department our Premium Hospitality team is a complex operation operating at a “best in class” level in sports and entertainment in North America. From managing staffing, reservations, sales reporting, inventory, revenue management, event readiness and on the floor duties, the Premium Hospitality Interns will provide support and contribute to exceptional guest experiences. The Premium Hospitality Interns will be required to work event nights and weekends as needed.

Premium Sales & Experience

The Premium Sales & Experience Intern will have the opportunity to learn about sales prospecting and will assist with sales forecasting reports, game day reporting and preparation, and sales presentations. They will also work to improve our premium membership experience through assisting with event planning and execution, fulfilling member benefits, and project management of departmental projects. The Premium Sales & Experience Intern will be required to work event nights and weekends as needed.

Quick Service Hospitality

The Quick Service Hospitality team is responsible for all food and beverage operations on the concourses of Rogers Arena, including food stands, bars, kiosks, and hawking operations. The Quick Service Interns will play an active role in event operations and with the department’s human resources needs, including interviewing part-time Quick Service job candidates and assisting with onboarding and training. They will also assist with streamlining processes, updating menu boards, IT programming, and sales reporting for the team. The Quick Service Interns will be required to work events and weekends as needed.

Social Media

Our Social Media team works with our Content department to develop content and execute the strategic vision for all social media platforms for all CSE brands and properties. The Social Media Intern will assist in creating content for all the team’s social media platforms, engaging with fans, implementing social media trends, creating analytics reports, and attending team events to support with coverage. Applicants for this internship are required to have experience using social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok, as well as Adobe Creative Suite (primarily Photoshop and Premier). The Social Media Intern is required to work game nights and weekends as needed.

The Sportsbar

Part of the larger Premium Hospitality department, the team behind The Sportsbar strives to elevate the traditional sports bar experience by creating a high-energy atmosphere for guests attending Rogers Arena events. The Sportsbar Intern will gain hands-on experience in all aspects of restaurant operations and management. This role is ideal for someone interested in both hospitality and social media. The intern will support areas such as hiring and training staff, event planning, food and beverage operations, event setup, revenue-building strategies, and daily administrative functions in a busy, high-volume restaurant environment. The Sportsbar intern will also assist the Director, Restaurants in administrative duties in other Premium Club Venues. The Sportsbar intern will contribute to content creation and social media strategy for The Sportsbar, helping develop content that highlights food and beverage offerings, sports, team culture, and live event experiences. Applicants for this internship are required to have experience using social media platforms; Tiktok, Instagram, and Facebook, as well as experience using Capcut. The successful candidate must be available to work all arena events and will start in August.

Ticket Centre

The Ticket Centre Intern will assist in the overall daily operations of the Ticket Centre and in supporting the Membership Experience team. Key responsibilities will include working within Ticketmaster systems, supporting Ticket Centre staff, and maintaining the highest standard of customer service. They will respond to fan inquiries over the phone, email, and walk-ups and will be required to work event nights and weekends as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current university student in their final year of study or recent university graduate in a related field of study
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated professionalism in presentation, conduct, and reliability
  • Strong work ethic and willing to go the extra mile
  • Eager to learn and take on new tasks and responsibilities
  • A strong understanding of and commitment to uphold our company values of discipline, respect, excellent, attitude, and mindset (DREAM)
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required
  • All internships are in-person at our offices at Rogers Arena
