About the role
We’re looking for someone dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently at night. This role combines overnight guest service with security responsibilities to help keep the resort safe, support guests with after-hours needs, and ensure financial and operational tasks are completed for the next day.
You’ll be part of a team that values integrity, clear communication, and cross-department support.
Black Rock Oceanfront Resort is located in Ucluelet on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island. Surrounded by old-growth forest and the wild Pacific, our team welcomes guests from around the world who come to experience this exceptional place.

In this role, you will:
Guest Service & Night Audit

Greet and check in arriving guests
-
Respond to guest requests, complaints, or emergencies
-
Answer phones and manage reservations
-
Process invoices and vendor payments
-
Reconcile daily financial reports and ensure all EOD work is complete
-
Write clear and accurate reports
-
Schedule wake-up calls and prepare for the next day’s arrivals

Support the Management Team with tasks as required
Security & Overnight Operations

Conduct regular interior and exterior patrols of guest areas, public spaces, parking lots, and back-of-house areas
-
Respond to noise concerns or security-related situations
-
Monitor CCTV systems, alarms, and building access points
-
Escort guests or staff upon request
-
Ensure doors, windows, exits, and restricted areas are secured
-
Report maintenance issues such as leaks, damage, or lighting concerns
-
Assist with nightly lock-up procedures
-
Communicate with morning and evening teams for smooth handover
What you bring:
-
Experience in hospitality, security, or customer service (preferred)

First Aid Level 1 (preferred)

Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to stay composed in high-pressure or emergency situations
-
Comfort with both guest-facing and back-of-house responsibilities

Physical ability to complete walking patrols

A reliable, self-motivated work ethic
Working conditions:

Overnight shifts, generally 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM

Indoor and outdoor work in a coastal environment
