Position: Ski Technician Location: Blue River, BC Type: Seasonal, Full-Time Reports to: Sports Shop Manager and Supervisor Overview: The position of Ski Technician is responsible for servicing, repairing, setting up rentals, and delivering equipment. Involves assisting guests in selecting equipment appropriate to conditions. Responsible for Sports Shop activities, ensuring the highest level of service is being provided for our clientele. This position is of extreme importance; therefore, it is very important to demonstrate excellence in this complex and challenging environment. Responsibilities: Servicing, repairing, setting up rentals, and delivering equipment Assisting guests (and staff) in selecting equipment appropriate to conditions Greet customers and provide guidance on where they may find items within the Sports Shop. Generate sales. Advise guests on the use and care of merchandise and provide advice concerning specialized products or services. Maintain a high level of customer service. Assist with setting up merchandise displays. Maintain sales records for inventory control. Operate computerized inventory recordkeeping and re-ordering systems. Work in partnership with Sports Shop and Retail Managers and other employees to maximize sales. Ensure accuracy in all transactions, inventory, and procedures. Proficient in handling cash and cashout procedures. Perform and record equipment safety checks prior to rental. Maintain a high level of product and service knowledge. Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and attitude at all times. Performs other duties as required. All staff are expected to be team oriented and maintain confidentiality of all information gained while working with the company. Requirements: Previous experience in a similar ski tech/rental/retail position. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Experience and/or education in customer service. Computing experience including use of excel, Microsoft teams, and retail software. Knowledge of outdoor recreational clothing. Solid knowledge of ski tuning and repair techniques. Knowledge of Wintersteiger machines. Must have certification in several different binding types and knowledge of downhill skiing, tele-marking, snowboarding, cross country skiing and snowshoes. Attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement. Solid understanding of sales. Must be responsible, prompt, and able to work independently. Attributes include an energetic personality, people skills, and good grooming standards. Must be able to frequently bend and kneel, lift moderate weight, and work on feet for an extended period of time. Valid driver’s license required. Second language an asset. Working Conditions: This position will spend 100% of the time standing. Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water. Must be able to transport up to 50 pounds on occasion, and up to 35 pounds regularly. Work both indoors and outdoors. Manual dexterity is required to use equipment.
