JOB DESCRIPTION
The Security team at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre is committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who enters our facility. We’re currently seeking experienced security professionals for a full-time opportunity within our dynamic and fast-paced Security Department. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of our employees, clients, guests, and the general public, supporting the world-class service and professionalism that define every MTCC event.
JOB RESPONSIBILTIES
- Monitor all facility cameras for health and safety concerns, event activity, vagrancy, and any suspicious behaviour.
- Monitor parking areas to ensure vehicle and property safety.
- Control access points and verify entry authorization.
- Conduct patrols to identify and address potential health and safety risks, ensuring the safety of employees, clients, and the general public.
- Report and document any building damages, leaks, or maintenance concerns.
- Respond to emergencies, including evacuations, de-escalating tense or volatile situations, managing crowds, and assisting in medical or other health and safety incidents.
JOB SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to conduct routine patrols across large facilities and respond promptly to emergencies.
- Able to perform tasks that may involve extended periods of standing or walking, as well as supporting activities such as evacuations, crowd support, or light lifting.
- Familiarity with CCURE, Perspective, CCTV, and Life & Safety systems.
- Security experience in hospitality, large venues, and crowd management (considered an asset).
- Strong customer service skills and a collaborative, team-focused approach.
- Knowledge of the Criminal Code, TPA, and LLA.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid Private Security and Investigative Services license.
- Standard First Aid, CPR, & AED – Level C.
- Valid Smart Serve certification.
As per the LiUNA Local 3000 Collective Agreement, in order to maintain Full-time status or to be classified as a Full-Time Employee, an Employee must have worked and/or paid a minimum of 1,200 hours the previous calendar year.
