Areas of Responsibility: Sorts all soiled linen, weighs and loads into appropriate carts. Operates and monitors washing, dry cleaning, and drying machinery; loads and unloads washers and dryers, and records poundage amounts and amounts washed and dried. Identifies stained or damaged items and determines status for repair, spot treatment, rewash or discard. Feeds the machine with linen; inspects cleanliness of articles removed from the washer, dryer, or dry cleaning machines and places clean items in clean linen carts. Sets dryers to designated times and temperatures based on the fabrics contained in each load; removes lint and debris from dryer screens and dry cleaning filters, and cleans the drain trap after each load. Folds towels either by hand or towel folder; irons table linens; irons and folds sheets; hand folds pillow cases, blankets, bed pads, draw sheets, herbal wraps, duvets, mattress covers, bath towels, hand towels and facecloths, etc. Feeds and operates the press; folds, sorts and shelves laundry items, placing finished items on the appropriate shelves. Maintains accurate records of items laundered. Sorts and separates damaged or stained linen (i.e., to be repaired or used as rags). Cleans lint traps from dryers daily; checks and cleans drains as necessary. Maintains a clean laundry area: sweeps and mops the floor, vacuums and dusts, cleans washers and dryers, empties trash, organizes carts, cleans the back sorting area, and sweeps the porch on the loading dock. Follows all Occupational Health and Safety policies, procedures and regulations. Reports and documents any observed or known safety hazards, conditions or unsafe practices and procedures to management immediately. Performs other job-related duties as directed by management or supervisors. Requirements: Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Must be able to work standing for extended periods of time and able to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy. Must be alert and safety conscious at all times. Move, lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing up to 60 lbs. Must be able to work in a hot/humid environment. Previous laundry experience is an asset. High School Diploma or GED preferred. Possess a good command of the English language and the ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate. Enthusiasm, willingness to learn and a positive attitude. Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of all guests. Must be dependable and must be a team player. Ability to work well under pressure; remain calm and courteous at all times. Ability to prioritize, organize and follow up. Ability to perform job functions with minimum supervision. Ability to maintain and portray Marriott Standards and Policies.
