Upriver Social House is a new upscale casual farm-to-table restaurant opening in downtown Chilliwack, BC at 9254
Nowell Street. We are built around a simple idea: buy the best ingredients from the Fraser Valley, and then get out of
their way.
Our menu celebrates what grows, swims, and grazes within 100 kilometres of our kitchen ? BC salmon, Fraser Valley
lamb, Chilliwack berries, locally made burrata. We cook with intention and serve with genuine warmth.
Our name says it all. Going upriver means moving against the easy current ? toward something wilder, truer, and more
nourishing. That spirit lives in every plate we send out, and in every person who is part of this team.

Schedule Tuesday?Sunday. Evenings + weekends. Weekend brunch rotations.

Reports To Head Chef / Executive Chef
THE ROLE
The Sous Chef is the Head Chef?s right hand and the kitchen?s second voice. When the Head Chef is off, the kitchen is
yours. You hold the standard. You protect the culture. You make sure every plate that goes out is one we are proud to
serve.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Run the kitchen in the Head Chef?s absence ? full service, full responsibility
- Execute and maintain the Upriver menu to the highest standard on every section
- Train and mentor Line Cooks and Prep Cooks on technique, food safety, and presentation
- Manage daily mise en place, prep lists, and station readiness
- Monitor food cost, waste reduction, and portion control at the line level
- Assist with ordering, receiving, and supplier relationship management
- Maintain HACCP logs, temperature records, and Fraser Health compliance
- Contribute ideas for seasonal menu changes and daily specials
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 3+ years of professional kitchen experience, including time at the Sous Chef or senior cook level
- Strong foundational skills: stocks and sauces, protein cookery, pasta, pastry basics
- Ability to run a section independently and manage junior staff with confidence and calm
- FOODSAFE Level 1 (Level 2 an asset)
- Genuine interest in BC local ingredients and seasonal cooking
