Job Title – Hair Stylist
Reports to – Spa Manager
Company Overview: In the heart of the village, nestled between the snowy mountains of British Columbia’s interior at Big White ski resort, The Spa at Stonebridge provides the ultimate alpine getaway experience! We are a seasonally run spa at Big White ski resort looking to build a dynamic team of spa practitioners and hair stylists for the upcoming winter season. Job Description: We are currently seeking hair stylists to join our team for the upcoming winter 2026/2027 season on a contract term.
Schedule:
- Full Time and Part time available
- Weekend availability
Responsibilities:
- Welcome customers and identify their preferences by asking pointed questions
- Recommend hairstyles and haircuts according to customers’ face shapes and tastes
- Wash, rinse and dry clients’ hair using appropriate shampoos and conditioners (e.g. for oily hair or dry scalp)
- Perform haircuts for a variety of hair lengths and styles for both men and women.
- Apply a wide range of hair coloring techniques, like highlights, ombre and balayage
- Create hairstyles for formal events and everyday looks, including braids, ponytails and bridal Up-dos
- Apply hair treatment products, as needed (e.g. color protection creams and hydrating masks)
- Recommend retail products
- Assist in managing bookings and serve walk-ins
- Ensure tidiness of beauty stations and sterilize tools, as needed
- Promote services and products of the spa to customers
Requirements and skills
- Work experience as a Hair Stylist, Hairdresser, Colorist or similar role
- Proficiency in hair straightening and curling methods, using hot irons and curlers
- Hands-on experience with various coloring techniques
- Knowledge of a wide range of haircuts, suitable for all hair lengths (e.g. braids and top knots)
- Familiarity with hair treatment products and services, like keratin smoothing
- Up-to-date with industry trends
- Excellent communication skills
- Physical stamina to stand for long hours
- Flexibility to work in shifts
- Valid license from a cosmetology school
Experience
- Minimum 1 year experience required
Physical requirements:
- Must be capable of lifting 25 to 50 lbs on occasion
- Will be standing for long periods of time
- Must be capable of standing, walking up stairs and commuting in the snow
Compensation & work perks:
- Hourly wage of $19.50/hr + commission on services & retail + tips and Big White employee perks
Seasonal Contract term:
- Late November/Early December 2026 to April 2027
