About The Role
As a Senior Data Engineer at DraftKings, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining the real-time data infrastructure that supports analytics, reporting, and AI-driven experiences across our platform. Your expertise will enable the transformation of complex raw data into trusted insights, empowering teams to make faster, more informed decisions. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Analytics, and Business teams to design scalable data solutions, optimize data models, and implement best practices for data governance and quality. Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. A minimum of three years of experience in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data platforms and distributed data systems is essential. Proficiency in Python and SQL is required, along with hands-on experience developing real-time data streaming solutions. Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Kafka, and AWS is highly desirable. Candidates should have a strong understanding of modern data modeling techniques, including Star Schema and Data Vault methodologies, as well as data warehousing, data lakes, and ETL frameworks. Experience working with NoSQL databases like MongoDB or DynamoDB, and knowledge of business intelligence tools such as Sigma, will be advantageous. Additionally, familiarity with infrastructure and DevOps tools like Terraform, PagerDuty, and Datadog is preferred. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment are critical for success.

Design, develop, and optimize real-time and batch data pipelines utilizing technologies such as Kafka, Databricks, and Snowflake. Create reliable data solutions that support critical business reporting, analytics, and platform insights. Develop AI-powered data experiences that enable users to explore and analyze data through natural language interfaces, extending beyond traditional text-to-SQL functionalities to support intelligent, autonomous workflows. Partner with cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable, analytics-ready datasets. Design and optimize data models, including Star Schema and Data Vault, ensuring data quality, governance, and observability. Implement best practices for data engineering, streaming, transformation, and platform performance, while mentoring team members and supporting their growth. Work within an agile environment to deliver scalable solutions that adapt to evolving business and platform needs.
