Role Description The PhD Researcher will conduct original research on human motion reconstruction and analysis, transforming monocular camera data into high-fidelity 4D motion models. Day-to-day activities include designing experiments, implementing and testing algorithms, analyzing datasets, and publishing findings in peer-reviewed venues. The role also involves collaborating with clinicians, sports scientists, and engineering teams to evaluate applications in rehabilitation, performance monitoring, and robotics. The PhD Researcher will mentor junior team members, present results at conferences, and contribute to grant proposals and project reports. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON. Qualifications Strong research skills in areas such as computer vision, machine learning, biomechanics, or robotics, including formulating hypotheses and designing experiments. Proficiency in programming and data analysis tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++), with experience handling and processing video and motion data. Background in motion capture, human movement analysis, or related fields, with familiarity in 3D/4D reconstruction and kinematics. Experience with scientific writing and communication, including preparing journal articles, conference papers, and technical reports. Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and present research findings. Completed or near-completion of a PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline. Knowledge of applications in rehabilitation, sports science, or robotics is highly beneficial, along with interest in translating research to practice. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to work on-site in Toronto, ON in a laboratory and collaborative environment.
