Overview
Location: UVic Quad
Pay Rate: $18.50/hour, plus 4% in lieu of benefits
Shift Times
Morning Shift: 7:30 AM – 10:00 AM Afternoon Shift: 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM Duration: One day / two (2) shifts, Friday September 11th, 2026 Positions Available: 15-20
We are seeking reliable and physically fit individuals to join our ThunderFest Event Setup and Takedown Crew. This is a casual, short-term position assisting with the preparation and breakdown of event infrastructure. Tasks include setting up 10x10 pop-up tents, placing and securing tent weights, arranging tables and chairs, and following a site map to ensure the correct layout. Setup and takedown crews will be organized into zone management pods, consisting of 5 captains and 4 members. If you would like to lead a section, please indicate that in your application.
Key responsibilities
Set up and take down 10x10 pop-up tents Lift and move tent weights (up to 50 lbs) Set up folding tables and chairs Follow a site map and direction from supervisors to arrange event spaces correctly Assist with general event infrastructure setup and cleanup Work efficiently in a team environment Optional: 1-2 drivers to assist in transportation of equipment from UVic Quad to Centennial Stadium and CARSA for afternoon shift.
Requirements
Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs Punctual and dependable. Able to follow directions and work independently as needed. Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. Staff may be scheduled for one or both shifts depending on availability.
