About the role
Bartender
Reporting to the Food and Beverage management team in the 61 Lounge, the bartender’s job is to ensure that the member experience at the Royal Glenora Club consistently embodies RGC’s vision. This position requires you to work with a team of dedicated servers to provide and create a unique, memorable, and personal experience for our members and their guests.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate complete and accurate knowledge of the full menu, wine and drink list, dessert menu, specials and buffet items Accurately taking and relaying members/guests’ orders and specific requests to the kitchen team. Serve food and beverages in accordance with laid-down standards, in a professional manner. Clean agreed designated areas, in accordance with laid-down procedures, morning/evening routines and hygiene requirements. Attend meetings and training courses as required. Be knowledgeable regarding allergy policies and procedures. Excellent verbal communication abilities to engage in conversations and friendly rapport with members and communicate effectively with team. Must be self-motivated and able to problem solve effectively. Confident in greeting, seating, serving food and beverages, busing, cleaning, sanitizing, correctly charging customers and taking payment from members and their guests. Proactively assist other servers with table maintenance, running food and side duties. Complete all duties outlined in the opening, mid and closing checklist and any other duties assigned. Show up on time ready to work and present yourself in a professional manner. Recommend wines to accompany menu items. Stock bar with adequate wines, liquor, beer, and other required items. Be able to understand and follow our beverage produce booklet. Move, change, and ensure kegs are in working order. Be attentive to members’ needs, and handle complaints with professionalism and tact. Take action if possible or escalate to the supervisor Use good judgment and discretion when serving alcohol according to Alberta Liquor Law. Maintain a safe and clean bar environment – ensure all glassware and machines are clean, all surfaces are wiped and all equipment is turned off at end of shift Perform close procedures, including; clean and stock the bar area, remove all garbage/recyclables Follow all Health & Safety policies and F&B procedures. Personal/professional conduct demonstrates RGC Core Values and Code of Conduct. Demonstrates ethical principles in all daily activities
Requirements
ProServe certification Experience working in food and beverage, preferably in a restaurant/bar environment Up to 6 months beverage experience is an asset. Demonstrates knowledge and interest in wines, liquor and beer Be able to do moderate physical effort. Standing, carrying, bending, stretching, pulling, pushing, lifting of weights up to 50 lbs. Strong Customer Service skills
