The Chef prepares and cooks menu items, ensures food quality and consistency, and manages daily kitchen operations. Responsibilities include organizing prep work, maintaining inventory levels, checking deliveries, and ensuring proper storage and rotation of ingredients. The Chef oversees food safety and sanitation practices, keeps the kitchen clean and organized, and may assist with menu development and specials. The role also involves coordinating with front-of-house staff, training kitchen team members, and helping maintain a positive, efficient work environment. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in professional cooking, including hot and cold food preparation and plating. Strong knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and safe kitchen equipment use. Ability to manage time effectively, work under pressure during busy periods, and prioritize multiple tasks. Experience leading or guiding kitchen staff, supporting teamwork, and communicating clearly with colleagues. Attention to detail in taste, presentation, and portion control, with a commitment to consistent quality. Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by cafe operations. Formal culinary training or certification is an asset; equivalent hands-on experience is also valued. Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift supplies, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
