The Career.
As a Receiver / Door Person at a V!VA Retirement Community, you will be responsible for creating a positive first impression while supporting the safe and efficient operation of the Community.
Working closely with the Welcome Coordinator, the Concierge Team, and other departments, you will assist with Community Member move-ins, deliveries, shipping and receiving, guest assistance, and general property support. You will help ensure Community Members, families, guests, vendors, and Team Members receive exceptional service while maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming environment.
You will serve as a role model for V!VA's Values and Culture, creating an environment where Community Members, guests, and Team Members feel welcomed, respected, and valued.
Key Responsibilities
Provide a warm, welcoming, and professional presence for Community Members, families, guests, and visitors Assist Community Members and guests entering and exiting vehicles and provide assistance with personal belongings when required Assist with Community Member inquiries, directions, transportation arrangements, and general assistance requests Assist with Community Member move-ins in partnership with the Welcome Coordinator and Concierge Team Receive, inspect, and process incoming deliveries and shipments Match deliveries to purchase orders and verify shipment accuracy Coordinate and track incoming shipments while maintaining accurate receiving records Sort and distribute incoming packages and deliveries throughout the Community Maintain inventory of shipping, receiving, and delivery supplies Conduct quality checks of received goods and report discrepancies as required Assist with freight scheduling and vendor coordination when required Support the Concierge Team during periods of coverage as needed Complete regular perimeter walks and report safety, security, maintenance, or environmental concerns Support emergency response procedures and assist during emergency situations when required Maintain receiving areas, entrances, exits, and surrounding areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition Operate company vehicles and move vehicles on Community property in a safe and responsible manner when required Adhere to all V!VA policies, procedures, health and safety requirements, and service standards Other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
Previous experience in hospitality, retirement living, customer service, shipping and receiving, concierge, or a related environment considered an asset Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Passion for creating positive first impressions and delivering exceptional service experiences A warm, welcoming, and professional approach when interacting with Community Members, guests, families, vendors, and Team Members Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to safely handle deliveries, shipments, and inventory while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications Valid G Class driver's licence with a satisfactory driving record Knowledge of safe lifting practices and workplace safety procedures Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and move up to 50 lbs Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and statutory holidays as required Valid Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) required Available for call-ins and emergency coverage when required Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written English
