Department Recreation & Culture Job Type Regular Number of Positions 1 Affiliation Non-Union Compensation Range $35.90 - $39.02 Job Summary Reporting to the Facility Supervisor, the Pool Operator is responsible for the Pool Filter Room operation and filtration system, daily cleaning throughout the facility, pool maintenance, general repairs, facility set ups, supervising part time staff, facility supervision, ensuring building security, providing exceptional customer service to our user groups, and completing all Town and legislatively required logs and reports. This position includes operation of a recreational facility with an indoor swimming pool, as well as a public splash pad. Job Duties Include Maintains pool water quality by back washing, vacuuming, adjusting pool chemistry, scum line removal, super chlorination, and performing cleaning and maintenance of the pool deck and surrounding areas. Provides a high level of customer service to meet, respond to, and anticipate the needs of our customers. Performs custodial tasks including sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathrooms / change rooms, floor refinishing, and operating floor care equipment. Removes snow and ice from exterior walkways during winter months. Performs general building repairs which includes painting banquet halls, lobbies, washrooms and other areas of the facility. Completes set-ups of meeting rooms and banquet halls including set-up / takedown of tables and chairs, podiums, screens, stage and A/V equipment. Completes logs and reports in order to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and Town procedures. Ensures the security of the building by locking interior and exterior doors, and arming/disarming the security system as required. Supervises part-time cleaners and acts as back-up for the Facility Supervisor or Facility Manager on duty. Qualifications/Skills Completion of Grade 12 High School Diploma. NSPF Certified Pool Operator (C.P.O.) Certificate. Minimum of one year experience in a custodial position within a recreational setting. Current Standard First Aid with CPR C + AED Certification. Class "G" Ontario driver's license with a clean driver's abstract. Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills. Must be available to work evening and weekend shifts. Able to provide a clear Criminal Reference check with Vulnerable Sector screening that is current (completed within the last six months), upon hire. Nice to Have Completion of a Ministry of Labour approved Working at Heights training certification is considered an asset. Mental Health First Aid certification is considered an asset. Experience/training operating aerial and scissor lifts is considered an asset. What is Offered to Staff Compensation: We offer competitive pay that reflects the responsibilities of the position. Hours of Work: This is a non-union position that works evening and weekend shifts, and the successful candidate must available to work up to 24 hours per week.
