Nortera Foods Inc. is currently seeking highly motivated, energetic individuals to join our Packaging department on a fulltime basis as a General Labourer. The General Labourer is responsible for ensuring the highest quality product is packaged while following all training, safe work instructions, company policies, and established procedures. This role requires a strong commitment to teamwork, as employees work closely with others and may be required to perform multiple tasks throughout a production shift. Assignments are based on lifting ability and previous experience.
Work Intensity – Heavy Lifter - Ability to repetitively lift 30–32 kg (66–70 lbs) throughout an 8-hour shift.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Case Piling: Safely lift and stack finished product cases onto pallets for wrapping and shipment using proper lifting techniques.
- Tote Dumping: Safely transfer frozen product from bulk totes into hoppers using designated tools and equipment for blending, packaging, and shipping.
- Utility: Prepare bulk totes for production, perform housekeeping duties, assist with tote dumping, and support other production activities as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be capable of speaking, reading, and writing English at a Level 3 requirement.
- Must be able to work in a refrigerated environment, wet, cold and soapy work areas.
- Must be able to meet minimum dexterity requirements of this position: bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, crouching, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, etc.
- Rotating 8-hour shifts, with a bi-weekly rotation between Days, Afternoons, and Nights - open to on-call shifts including over-time.
- This position is a HEAVY lifting capability role (lift up to 32kgs, multiple times as needed in a shift.).
- Demonstrated punctuality, reliability, teamwork, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to climb rolling & stepladders, climbing onto platforms, work on platforms up to 20ft in the air, etc.
- Must be able to do inspection of vegetable products as well as be near vibrations for long periods.
- Demonstrated ability to work diligently as a team in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment with restrictions to meet deadlines.
- Hourly wage is $19.25 per hour.
