The Waterloo Catholic District School Board with a total student population of 38,000, provides services to students in 50 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12) across the Waterloo Region.

The WCDSB also operates numerous Adult Learning and Continuing Education programs through St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centres.

General Description Of Program

All culinary credit courses follow Ministry of Education guidelines and are accepted as credits towards an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). The Occasional Culinary Teacher will report to the Principal and provide coverage for various culinary courses and certificate programs.

Course Codes May Include

Hospitality & Tourism: TFJ3C, TFJ4C

Cooking & Pastry: TFC3C, TFC4C, TFB3E, TFB4E

Culinary Arts & Prep: TFN3C, TFN4C, TFE3E, TFE4E, TFR3C, TFR4C

Description Of Duties

Maintain a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment during the regular teacher's absence. Deliver prepared lesson plans and supervise students in both classroom and professional kitchen settings. At the end of the day, provide a summary report to the teacher Maintain all health and safety protocols, including food safety. Provide instructional support to students to ensure academic progress Develop lesson plans and assist with the ongoing assessment of student work and provide feedback as required during multi-day assignments Oversee practical kitchen labs, ensuring proper equipment use and sanitation.

Minimum Requirements

A current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification. (If no OCT candidates apply, other candidates will be considered). Eligible to work in Canada. Available for in-person.

Desirable Assets

Senior teaching qualifications in the subject area (Technological studies- Hospitality and Tourism) Industry Expertise: A Red Seal Certificate or equivalent professional culinary experience Previous experience teaching in a secondary school or adult education

Location: St. Louis Main Campus, 80 Young St., Kitchener

Hours: as needed

Program Hours: 8:45 – 11:45 AM

12:30 – 3:30 PM

Teaching Format: Compressed Schedule (each class is 3 hours per day)

5 terms (37 days per term)

In-person delivery

Term assignments may be offered each term based on qualifications and seniority
