A Grill & Vine Assistant Server is responsible for assisting in all restaurant operations to ensure that guests have an enjoyable dining experience by providing quality customer service. They greet and direct guests, they assist servers with food delivery, table maintenance and side duties to ensure that we maintain our outstanding guest satisfaction. Shifts may include at anytime, in the Grill & Vine, Banquets, In Room Dinning or Pool Deck. The Wellness You Deserve: We’ll support you in and out of the workplace by offering: * Team-spirited coworkers & encouraging management * Learning and development opportunities * Reward and Recognition Programs * Staff Accommodation (based on availability) * Enjoy Discounted Hotel stays with Marriott ‘Explore’ Program * Complimentary Staff Meal * Summer & Winter Wellness Package up to $2000/yr What we are looking for: * A warm, people-oriented demeanor * A team-first attitude * High attention to detail and a drive to get things done Position Requirements: * Maintain a thorough knowledge of all Food & Beverage menus, daily additions and services provided by the department and the hotel * Assist the servers in taking food plates to guests in the restaurant and ensure that each plate is of the highest quality * Assist with serving water, bread, and coffee * Adhere to local liquor laws and regulations and "Serving it Right" guidelines * Take corrective action if a guest is not satisfied and bring the situation to the attention of the manager * Stack trays properly for efficient unloading for stewarding * Perform set up duties as requested to include side stations, storage areas and food staging area * Perform general cleaning tasks utilizing cleaning to adhere to health and safety standards * Fold napkins for meal periods to maintain an adequate supply * Comply with WRS's Occupational Health and Safety Program and the Regulation of WorkSafeBC * Report any unsafe conditions, practices or injuries to their supervisor as soon as possible * Set a good safety example * All other duties as assigned Skills & Experience: * Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and a passion for dealing with and emotionally connecting with others * Must be able to build and maintain credibility and relationships with customers (internal and external) * Previous knowledge of POS (Micros) * Previous experience in a similar role in a similar size/type of property * Detailed knowledge of Whistler and available services General Requirements: * Serving It Right certificate * Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to at least 8 hours in length * Must be able to lift to 20lbs * Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift to 50 lbs, including, but not limited to, lifting trays of food or food items on a regular and continuing basis * Ability to provide a satisfactory criminal record check Health & Safety: Health & Safety is at our core! * Daily stretches and movement to get you ready for your day * Safety orientations to ensure you feel safe at work * Proud to be COR certified – an occupational health and safety accreditation program that verifies a fully implemented safety and health program which meets national standards. * Monthly safety committee meetings You’re welcome here Our highest priority is making you feel as welcome as our guests.
