Job summary
Matrix is seeking reliable and hardworking Housekeepers to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary living quarters, common areas, and camp facilities. This role supports the comfort, health, and well-being of camp residents through housekeeping, laundry, sanitation, and general camp support duties. The Housekeeper will play an important role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and sanitation while working in a remote camp environment. Responsibilities Clean, disinfect, and maintain washrooms, showers, sleeping quarters, offices, laundry areas, dining areas, and common spaces. Prepare rooms for crew arrivals and departures, including changing bed linens, sanitizing high-touch surfaces, and restocking supplies. Wash, dry, fold, and replace bed linens, towels, and other camp laundry as required. Empty garbage and recycling containers, replace liners, and dispose of waste in accordance with site procedures. Maintain clean, orderly, and sanitary conditions throughout assigned facilities. Clean and sanitize laundry equipment and remove lint and debris from dryer filters and surrounding areas. Safely handle, label, store, and use cleaning products in accordance with WHMIS requirements. Monitor housekeeping inventory and advise the Camp Manager or designate when cleaning supplies, paper products, linens, or other materials require replenishment. Support kitchen and dining room sanitation as directed, including cleaning tables, surfaces, equipment exteriors, and high-touch areas. Assist with receiving, storing, rotating, and labelling supplies and groceries as required. Follow all site safety procedures, safe work practices, sanitation standards, and camp policies. Report hazards, incidents, accidents, and unsafe conditions immediately. Participate in toolbox meetings and other required site safety discussions. Perform other housekeeping and general camp support duties as assigned by the Camp Manager or supervisor. Requirements Previous housekeeping or janitorial experience, preferably in a camp, industrial, hospitality, or remote site environment. Ability to follow cleaning schedules, procedures, and sanitation standards with minimal supervision. Working knowledge of safe chemical handling, infection control, and general housekeeping practices. WHMIS certification required or willingness to obtain. Standard First Aid and CPR certification considered an asset. Food Safe certification considered an asset. Previous experience working in a mining camp, remote workforce accommodation, or similar industrial camp environment considered an asset. Experience using commercial cleaning equipment and completing institutional laundry duties considered an asset. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Ability to work extended shifts and rotational schedules as required. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, and cleaning for extended periods. Strong verbal communication skills in English. Reliable, organized, and committed to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation. Valid Driver’s Licence considered an asset depending on site requirements.
