In this role, you will prepare and serve a nutritious lunch to our residents in a warm and welcoming environment. The duties will include but may not be limited to the following: *Duties and Responsibilities* · Ensure kitchen facility is operated efficiently and in compliance with Health and Safety regulations and standards and organizational expectations. · Prepare nutritious and various meals a weekly basis through the Meal Program. · Provide catering for Special Events as requested and approved by Chief Executive Officer and/or Community Life Coordinator. · Supervise part-time or volunteer staff as needed. · Liaise with Public Health Inspectors and/or contractors as required. · Ensure the provision of quality nutritional care through menu planning and the maintenance of high standards of food preparation and service. · Ensure optimal safety standards are maintained by all kitchen staff. · Ensure maintenance of an appropriate menu recording system. · Coordinate the purchasing of food and other dietary supplies. · Maintain professional and respectful communication with residents, staff and contractors. · Accountable for compliance with approved food services budget. · Perform other related duties as required and directed by Chief Executive Officer. *Qualifications* · Food Handler?s Certificate and cook certification · Must be able to read and write and follow oral and written instructions. · Must possess an understanding of the basics of good sanitation and food handling techniques to avoid infection or the spread of contagious diseases. · Experience working within a seniors? setting preferred The successful candidate must comply with the organizations Coronavirus Immunization Policy which requires full vaccination against COVID-19, including 3rd booster, or equivalent The successful candidate will be required to provide a current Vulnerable Sector Screening, current within 6 months of start date Please visit our website at *dchomes.ca* to learn more about Durham Christian Homes Job Type: Casual Pay: $23.90-$30.00 per hour Work Location: In person
